Cala di Mitigliano

Cala di Mitigliano is a small rocky inlet facing Capri on the wildest stretch of the Sorrento Peninsula. Its turquoise water and views toward Punta Campanella suit travelers looking for nature away from serviced beach clubs; wear comfortable shoes for the descent.

Cala di Mitigliano is one of the most remote and rewarding spots on the Sorrentine Peninsula, about half an hour from Villa Lorelei: from the hamlet of Termini, follow the mule track toward Punta Campanella and take the western coastal deviation, roughly 40-60 minutes on foot. Alternatively reach it by sea in a kayak or small boat. It is one of the wildest and most beautiful swimming spots at the very tip of the peninsula.

This small rocky inlet faces directly toward Capri's iconic Faraglioni sea stacks, in an area of rare natural beauty. The water here is among the clearest on the Campanian coast, with white rocks plunging vertically into crystal-clear depths so transparent you can see the bottom several metres down, and the complete absence of beach facilities keeps it pristine. There are just rocks to swim from, a small natural cave, and uninterrupted coastal scenery, so it appeals to travelers who prefer nature to serviced beaches.

Mamy Lucia's tip: wear proper shoes for the path and the rocks, and bring everything you need, water, snacks, and sun protection. Go in the morning for calm water and some shade, and bring a mask, because the snorkeling here is among the best in the area.

Best visited in spring or autumn when the vegetation is lush and the sea is warm but uncrowded; avoid days with strong wind from the west, when the exposed cove can get choppy. Remote and romantic, it is a place for couples who want a private swim far from the crowds.

Good to know: there are no services of any kind at the cala, so bring water, food, and sun protection, and carry your litter back out. The final descent over rock can be slippery, so good shoes matter. Many visitors reach it by sea on a small boat or kayak from Marina del Cantone, which avoids the walk and lets you anchor in the clear water just off the shore.
